Student Ministry

Welcome to the Student Ministry Page!  At Aldersgate, our youth groups begin at 7th grade to 12th.  We offer a Sunday school class on Sundays and then two meeting nights each week.  Throughout the year, special events like our Girls Only/Guys Only nights, service projects, Youth Sunday and Youth Camp are added!  Check out the list below and give us a call if you think your student would be interested in coming along.  We can help extend an invitation.

Sunday Morning Sunday School – Each Sunday at 10:00 am, our Youth Teaching Team brings God’s word through a variety of mediums – music, video and discussion.  Edmund, Gary, Charley and Josh feel a strong calling to help mentor and teach this group.

Sunday Evenings – (5:00 – 6:30 pm) Our activities on Sunday evenings are more recreational in nature.  We know the importance of providing opportunities for our youth to enjoy their time together.  Learning happens differently for everyone.

Wednesday Nights – (6:00 – 7:00 pm) This is our night for small group Bible study.  We take the time to read and discuss the Bible and what lessons it can share for our lives right now.

All weekly activities take place in The Mr Jerry Smith House which is at 814 Edwards Road.  This building is across the drive from our gym and ballfield.  Please contact Josh for times and dates during the summer.

Other Student Ministry Opportunities

Confirmation – Beginning at grade 6, youth are encouraged to attend Confirmation classes during the school year.  These classes are held on Sunday mornings during the 10 am Sunday school hour and conclude with a weekend workshop in Lake Junaluska, NC.  If desired, membership happens in the spring.

Salkehatchie – SC Conference Service Program for high school age and older.  Participants work in selected areas of the state on homes that are in need of repair and stay the week in host churches.  This is a life-changing experience, providing a more worldly Christian perspective.  College age and older can serve as adult workers but must complete a background check and Safe Sanctuary Training.  http://salkehatchie.org/

Asbury Hills Summer Camp – Located in Cleveland, SC is our conference camp.  If your teen is interested in camping or becoming a junior camp counselor, check them out.  Weeks are offered all summer long, but fill up quickly.

Vacation Bible School – Each summer, we encourage our group to serve as helpers with Vacation Bible School.  Placement in classrooms is determined by age and particular talents.  This year’s VBS is July 21st – 25th.  This is a great way to get service hours for school and we usually enjoy lunch out each day to reflect on the stories of the day.

ScoutingWe play host to Boy Scout Troop 256 and have had a long history of working with Eagle candidates to complete their projects.
