Youth Ministries
Welcome to the Aldersgate Youth Ministry Page! Our youth programming begins at 7th grade to 12th. At it’s foundation, is a special group of lay leaders and staff, who are dedicated to providing the resources and support to all youth who are exploring their spiritual path. Disciple making begins early and we are committed to walking with them on their journey. Check out the list below and give us a call if you think your student would be interested in coming along. We can help extend an invitation.
Sunday Evenings
(5:00 – 6:30 pm) Our activities on Sunday evenings are more recreational in nature. We know the importance of providing opportunities for our youth to enjoy their time together.
Learning happens differently for everyone. Sunday’s include meals, worship, games, intentional activities and scripture study.
Wednesday Nights
(6:30 – 7:30 pm) This is our night for small group Bible study. We take the time to read and discuss the Bible and what lessons it can share for our lives right now.
All weekly activities take place in The Mr Jerry Smith House which is at 814 Edwards Road. This building is across the drive from our gym and ballfield. Please contact the church office for times and dates.
Other Youth Ministry Opportunities
Confirmation – Beginning at grade 6, youth are encouraged to attend Confirmation classes during the school year. These classes are held monthly at dates and times picked by the group and explore the history of Methodism and what it means to be a member of the Christ’s church. If desired, membership happens in the spring.
Salkehatchie – SC Conference Service Program for those 14 and older. Participants work in selected areas of the state on homes that are in need of repair and stay the week in host churches. This is a life-changing experience, providing a more worldly Christian perspective. College age and older can serve as adult workers but must complete a background check and Safe Sanctuary Training. Asbury Hills Summer Camp – Located in Cleveland, SC is our conference camp. If your teen is interested in camping or becoming a junior camp counselor, check them out. Weeks are offered all summer long, but fill up quickly.
Vacation Bible School – Each summer, we invite our group to serve as leaders and helpers with Vacation Bible School. Placement in classrooms is determined by age and particular talents. This year’s VBS is July 21st – 25th. This is a great way to get service hours for school and we usually enjoy lunch out each day to reflect on the stories of the day.
Scouting – Boy Scout Troop 256 uses our Mr. Jerry Smith House as their meeting location. We have enjoyed a long history with these scouts and have worked with many of them in achieving their Eagle Scout award.
